There are times when things don’t work out the way you expect them to. You may have planned and prepared, but for whatever reason, it just didn’t work out. This happened to me during Bible Class this past Sunday.
Sometimes when this happens, there is a voice that creeps into my head and tells me that I am a failure. That I have no business attempting to write and teach and that I just need to give up.
I must admit…it was tempting. That voice used its scare tactics all during worship and I am sad to say that my voice didn’t project the words that I truly believe in my heart and while I was there in body, my soul was groping around in a dark place.
After worship, I had a good cry and was able to talk things over with my beloved. After some time talking, I realized that the mistake I had made that morning, was not the first like it. We talked about what could be done differently so that this didn’t happen again. That voice taunting my self-worth got a little quieter until it finally went away.
Christ said in John 12:46 “I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”
I am humbled daily by the fact that our Creator decided before the world ever began to send His Son to save me. My Savior is the light that snuffs out the darkness and its taunts.
I have been wanting to start this blog for quite some time. I have been hesitant, for one, because I don’t want to just be another voice adding to the noise in this world, and second, I stay super busy and this always went to the back burner.
I fully believe that when we wake up in the morning, we have a choice to make. When I have moments where I question my abilities, I have a choice to make. I can wallow in self-pity or I can remember that there is a Light from above that can break up all that nonsense if I let it. I don’t want to get to the end of my life and look back and see a bunch of regrets. I want to see that I chose to live an epic life. That doesn’t mean that everything will be roses all the time, but that I chose to be excited and content and to let His light lift me up.
My goal is to focus on the positive and to share that with others. I hope that Choosing Epic will be beneficial for your journey.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
